My pet peeve today is my landlord, can you relate?
I’m so glad that I signed a lease agreement with the amount of rent I’m supposed to pay. My landlord, seems to forget on a monthly basis, just how much I am supposed to pay!Today she demanded an extra $50, three times we argued about the fact that it wasn’t that much. The only way I could prove it to her, was my lease agreement! She finally shut up about it, but didn’t even apologize for accusing me of paying the incorrect rent amount!It’s been this way now for almost a year, and although I like the “location” of my apt, I don’t like the size, the leaking water in my closet, the mold growing across the top of my ceiling, water dripping from my bathroom light fixture, a leaky hot water tap (I pay for my gas and hot water), my gas bill that was 70$ and now it 274$ (I moved to a 2 bedroom from a one bedroom and got a triple gas bill,) I’m afraid to find out what the hydro will be here. I just wanted one extra room, that’s it, and even that is about the size of a walk in closet!Bigger isn’t always better and never trust the estimates from previous tenants ( 2 bachelors who never washed the floors, walls or anything here and a landlord that forgets my name all the time and takes forever to fix things!). I’ve tried to be patient, but really I’m not the kind of person that has patience in the first place.When I go visit my friend , who has a 3 bedroom townhouse (3x’s larger living space) and her gas bill is 1/2 of mine, but her rent is 300$ higher, where does a person win?Either you live in a crappy part of town, deal with drugs and hoodlums and have cheap rent with rats, mice, critters and various plumbing and water problems, or you pay through the nose, live in a swanky part of town, and worry about people breaking into your house because you just happen to look rich?Sometimes I wish I could just go live on a deserted Island somewhere, but then again, I would be so bored and hate not having something to rave about to all of you . :)My pet peeve for the day is “Please remember my name, what I owe and don’t accuse me of lying! “ Thanks!
