My first day as “Idea Girl Consulting.”
It feels great to finally see my dreams become a reality! I have been waiting three years for this moment in time. And it feels absolutely exhausting! You know dreams can take a lot of work? You plan and re plan and then plan again, and it always seems that “Murphy’s law” throws a monkey wrench in your plans and adjusts every single thing. Even your career plans can change several times over a two year period of time. I know, because I’m living it in the here and now. This past year has been the most difficult for me. Try starting a new career with no money, no education and no idea if your even good enough for the job. It was a whim, and a desperate thought, that I had to create a new career for myself, with many physical limitations almost impeeding me every step of the way. I’m speaking from the heart when I say, “now I know what those learn to be a writer novels mean by being persistent!” When everything seems to be going against you, take a step back and look at the big picture. What is limiting you from reaching your goal? Make a list of the things you want to do this year. Then make a list of things you know you will definitely accomplish with no problems or setbacks. Save the last list for those things you really want to do but you may have barriers along the way. Remember the First thing is this, everything in life in temporal and things are subject to change.Secondly, take your goals in baby steps if you have to, every step is closer to achieving that dream of yours.Thirdly, pat yourself on the back and reward yourself with something small for each “little” goal that you accomplish.Fourth, keep a good strong network of friends, and loved ones, that are backing you along the way. On those rough days, you collect a hug, a kiss and a “I know you can do it” word of advice from your team of supporters.Fifth and Final, note in your day planner, or journal that you have arrived! The goal is completed and now you can focus all your time and energy on the next one. If you find that your meeting a lot of resistance along the way, take a step back, do something easy, fun and enjoyable then go back to achieving that goal.My biggest goal from 2008, was to complete writing a 100,000 word novel. It’s all ready now to submit to publishers. It is “Far” from perfect, but I figure a great Editor will be required and since they have to edit it anyways, I’ll give them lots of things to edit? LOL I just had to say that. You know when your not great at grammar or spelling and even if you have a grade 12 education, it seems you always will need to learn a few more pointers in the world of writing. After many hours of toiling over a computer, writing by hand, having hand cramps, neck aches and back problems, to finally say, “I’m finished my final draft and I’m ready to show the world what I can do.” Then you know that you have arrived. I kept at it, I persisted, and I got it finished, a little late, yes, but it’s somewhat ready for the public to enjoy!I wrote at a grade 5 level, only because according to statistics, many people out there cannot read. So I wrote in easy english so that a fourth grade student could read and understand the story I have to tell. It’s full of action, adventure, humour and great characters that you as the reader will learn to love and hate. I have posted what I call 17 mini chapters on the website (not actual chapters) but I’ve created little chapters so that when your having a coffee and a break, you can log into the site and read a few words here and there. There are also pictures (compliments of google images) so that you can get an idea of what my imagination as conjured for you. These pictures are not actually in the book, but they are there so that you can have fun using your imagination as you read the story that surrounds each picture. A picture book for adults! I thought it would be COOL to do! I’ve also created what is called, “Novel Notes” This is where an author will do research on historical facts, times, places etc. So i’ve shared that and more. It’s a great site for researching the early 1900’s and I found it quite inspiring to know that folks in that time frame were facing uncertain economic times and went through what was the worst depression in history 1929-1937. Who knows, maybe 2009 will now be deemed the WORST depression Era! You can find some of my novel on http://www.squidoo.com/themansiononthehillbylindamichellerandall and the novel notes on http://www.squidoo.com/themansiononthehillI have to apologize, I haven’t written in awhile because somehow I actually forgot how to log in. Squidoo tech support sent me the wrong username information, and for the life of me, I drew a blank. At least I put the time to good use and got the novel out of the way! Now i can focus on doing more articles for you to enjoy and I’m going to be working on book 2 of my series..
