Action for animals christmas craft sale!

Published by ideagirl under Life in general Edit This

I figured they would have doggie outfits or something.  Nope it was all christmas crafts and baked goods.  My eyes popped out at the prices? What! everything is under $10!  And christmas decorations for .50 cents?  What gives?

Then i found out that everything had been donated and they were just selling the stuff.  Amazing!  Now that is what I call the true spirit of christmas.  I found out that they are struggling with monetary funds.  That’s sad because they help with controlling the animal population.

Action for animals helps with the spaying and neutering of pets for low income families.  To help with population control?  I guess the cats are the worst.  What I don’t understand is, if it’s such a problem why don’t they create a bi law that cat’s are not allowed outside without a lease?  They have one for the dogs? Why not the cats?

When I go to visit a shelter usually it’s over run with stray cats or kittens that nobody wants.  People consistenly drop them off every month?  Why don’t they wise up and stop letting lucy the cat roam the streets and get pregnant every month?

That would solve that problem.  Anyways the real gift of giving was in seeing these items for sale.  I know for a fact the table piece with the candle and glass and wreath must of cost almost 50 dollars to make and here they were selling it for $10.

They should have advertised this as a christmas sale for low income families!  It would have been perfect for those of us (myself included) who live on a measly income each month and we have to stretch our pennies till they squeek.  This reminds me of a funny joke my ex’s family used to tell me ( they were dutch).. how did copper wire get invented?  … by two dutch men pulling on a penny LOL.

They always told the best “dutch” jokes.   Off topic here I know but tis the season to be jolly right?  So there were no outfits for my little dog daisy.  However I do know that at the SPCA in Fort Erie sells nice sweaters and outfits for your dog or cat for under $30.  Most of the sweaters I purchased were around $15 for a toy poodle.  Almost half price of what I’d get at the local pet stores.

I had so much fun the other night going into Pet Smart.  All the cute outfits and watching our mini poodle daisy mingle with the other doggies running around there.  I liked the finches and wanted one till I noticed they wanted 110 bucks for one of them!  Yikes.. and $150 for a cat?  I can get a cat for free off of kijiji?  you can also get all sorts of free pets, from gerbils, spiders, snakes to bunnies.

So we bought several fish and last week two female bunnies.  The bunnies were $10 each at the flea market here in st Catharines which is only open on Sundays from 9 am till 5pm.  Lot’s of good christmas deals there but still no pet clothing for sale there.

HInt, hint, untapped market at flea markets so for any creative people out there you may want to explore the option of setting up a stand and offering pet services for a good price.  You’d be amazed at how many pet displays i’ve come across at a country craft sale and they sell out within minutes!  They really need some more competition there. Really.
